What is Odin?
Odin is a powerful PC based Android flashing tool that has developed before couple of years. This software can be applied on most of the all Samsung Android devices to flash firmware.
Prerequisites and Precautions.
Don’t forget to crosscheck the below list before you begin.
- Odin is a powerful flashing tool, please follow the process with a great care. If something goes wrong you can turn your Samsung device into a bricked easily.
- Download the latest version of Odin to your PC-Odin Flashing Tool for Android.
- Particular flash-able firmware for your device-Please download the latest firmware version suits your device.
- Please keep your USB cable ready to connect the device to PC.
- Please make sure that Samsung Kies software is uninstalled from your PC. Odin will occur problems when Kies is running in the background.
- Download Samsung USB drivers and setup them properly inside your PC.
However, Odin will allow you to revise some of the accidental mistakes. So, this will not be a big deal to proceed the flashing process.
How to install Samsung firmware using Odin on your device.
- Navigate to the downloaded location of latest Odin software inside your PC.
- Extract the content of downloaded Odin file on your PC.
- Turn off your Samsung device, press and hold ‘Power + Volume Down + Home’ for 6-8 seconds to enter Odin Mode or Download Mode. (If this Key combination doesn’t work, just find out a method to boot your Samsung in to download mode).
- Connect your Device to the PC via the USB cable.
- Right click on Odin3.exe icon inside the extracted Odin folder in your PC and select ‘run as administrator’.
- You will see the below interface on your PC.

- Take a look on the left upper side of the interface, find the marked cage named ID:COM The blank text box under “ID:COM” will turn in to blue once your device is recognized. (If it is not successful, check your USB drivers and try a different USB cable).
- Click the button called ‘AP’ and browse the downloaded firmware directory and choose the .tar.md5 file and click open.
- IMPORTANT! Do not select anything via the Pit tab and confirm that “re-partition” option is not enable.
- Once the firmware file is loaded to the AP text box, Press START button to begin the flashing process.
- Please do not disconnect the cable while transferring the flash image to the device. If not you may damage the device permanently.
- After completing the process Odin will show below screen in advance to inform that your device flashing is successful and ready.

- Please reboot your device before you are using for the first time after flashing.
Please read all the instruction carefully and follow the procedure. Yes, now you flash firmware using Odin on your Samsung smartphone. Feel the difference of your new firmware.
Try below steps, if failed.
- Update your device USB drivers with latest software.
- Reboot your PC.
- Run Odin with Administrator Privileges.
- Try different USB cables. (Some USB cables do not support communication between devices, they only support for charging.)
- Download the firmware again and try above method. (Please confirm that you have downloaded the suitable firmware package)
